Creating Web Pages, Part I

Durham: Section I: CRN 12989, Saturday, October 14, 8:30 a.m.-noon, Barton/Cole 141, .35 CEUs, $65 plus $10 lab fee

Durham: Section II: CRN 15065, Saturday, November 11, 8:30 a.m.-noon, Barton/Cole 141, .35 CEUs, $65 plus $10 lab fee

In this hands-on workshop you'll learn the basics of HTML, the programming language used to create web pages. You'll create simple web pages with a text editor, learning how to put in hyperlinks and inline images and set-up lists on your page. You should have basic familiarity of word processing using Windows or a Mac as well as have some experience with web browsing. Prerequisite: Introduction to the Internet.
Instructors: Section I: Mary Peterson is a senior writer/editor and web administrator for UNH Publications. She has been a computer consultant for the University for 10 years and has been working on the web since 1995. Section II: Grace Peirce is publicity assistant for UNH Continuing Education and maintains its website. She has been working in the computer publishing and printing industry since 1974 and on the web since 1995.

Creating Web Pages, Part II

If you've taken "Creating Web Pages, Part I" or have basic knowledge of HTML and web page design, this hands-on workshop will add to your skills and knowledge. You'll learn how to create tables, forms, image maps, and frames. Prerequisite: Creating Web Pages, Part I.

Web Page Design

Durham: CRN 13629, Saturday, October 28, 8:30 a.m.-noon, Barton/Cole 141, .35 CEUs, $65 plus $10 lab fee

Creating an effective and visually appealing web page takes more than technical skill. In this workshop, you'll learn how to enhance your design ability and build a better page. This session covers organization, layout, and presentation of web pages and sites. You'll critique existing web pages to develop an eye for effective design. Prerequisite: Creating Web Pages I & II.

Photoshop for the Web

Durham: CRN 14952, Saturday, October 28, 1-4:30 p.m., Barton/Cole 141, .35 CEUs, $65 plus $10 lab fee

Using Photoshop 5.5, you'll explore all the options available for creating gifs, transparent gifs, and jpegs, and when to use each. You'll also learn the appropriate uses of: dithering, interlacing, anti-alias, jpeg compression, dpi, color palette options, and more. Learn the secrets to great web photos and images. Photoshop experience necessary. Prerequisite: Creating Web Pages I & II and Beginning Photoshop. Instructor: Grace Peirce.
